Collagensis - Skin Needling

Skin needling is a procedure that involves using a skin roller with multiple tiny needles that puncture the skin.

This creates micro trauma and micro inflammation in the dermis and very little damage in the epidermis (superficial skin). Consequently, the epidermis is not injured, and can return to normal appearance in as little as 5 days, while the dermis (where the collagen lays) is injured and recovers with more collagen.

How is Skin Needling Preformed?

Local anesthetic cream is applied to the treated area for one hour. The roller is then repeatedly moved over the particular area, which causes tiny pinpoint puncture wounds. The production of new collagen continues for up to 12 months after the procedure. Depressed acne scars, wrinkles, skin texture and skin tightness all continue to improve over this period.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments will depend on the individual collagen response and the severity of the area being treated. Most patients require 2 to 6 treatments approximately 3-4 weeks apart.

Is the procedure painful?

There may be some discomfort associated with the procedure, but it is well tolerated by most individuals with local or topical anesthetic.
