How it works:
Photodynamic skin rejuvenation utilizes intense pulsed light in conjunction with Levulan, also known as aminolevulinic acid (ALA). Levulan is applied topically to the area being treated and is left on the skin to “incubate” and then activated with the intense pulse light which produce oxygen that destroys the target cells. What to expect:
PDT usually consists of 2 to 4 treatments at three to four week intervals. After the treatment, you can expect the skin to look mildly red, swollen, itchy or even sunburned. This redness can be expected to last for a few days. After PDT you can expect the skin to be more even colored tone, smaller pore size, smoother texture, and restore a more youthful, smoother healthier looking skin.
