How does laser hair removal works:

Lasers and light sources use the principle of selective photothermolysis to eliminate hair and its potential regrowth without damaging the surrounding skin. During a treatment, light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. This absorption raises the temperature of the hair follicle and thermally destroys the cells responsible for regrowth. The attributes of the light (wavelength, pulse duration and power) are chosen to ensure damage to these cells and not the rest of the skin.

What to expect:

During the procedure you can expect to feel a little degree of discomfort, depending on the pain threshold of the individual. Most people explain the procedure as a gentle heat snapping on the skin. A topical anesthetic is available if you experience any discomfort. After the procedure you may experience some reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes within 24 hours. You can resume your normal activities as usual but you should be aware to avoid exposing the treated area to the sun, solarium and fake tans between treatments and also 4 weeks prior to your first treatment.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Hair is a natural process in the body, which occurs in stages. Only during the Anagen stage can we effectively cause permanent damage to the hair. Multiple treatments are needed for best results and this depends on the persific area on the body being treated.

The factors that contribute to each individual treatment are: Age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, medication, and hormones, which all play a central role in the location, permanency, and thickness of hair.

It is difficult, if not impossible; to predict how many treatments each individual will require to attain the best long term results, but with our experience with laser hair removal we can customize and tailor a treatment program for you so you will achieve the best possible outcome.
