Lots of people get tattoos and down the track many
will regret
the decision.
tattoo removal
. The reasons for this vary: the tattoos may be poorly placed or executed, the site may have become infected, or the person may simply have outgrown whatever impulse led to the tattoo. Our clinic offer treatments with the Q switch ‘ND YAG’ Laser, which can
remove tattoos containing Black, Blue and Green Pigment.
Lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly
through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment.
When the ink particles of the tattoo absorb the light from the laser, they are broken
up into tiny fragments. These fragments are then absorbed through the body's
natural immune system.
The laser selectively targets the pigment of the tattoo without damaging the surrounding skin.
Because each tattoo is unique, removal techniques must be tailored to suit each individual case.
How many treatments will it take to remove the tattoo?
On the average, professional multi-coloured tattoos require 6-10 treatments,
while amateur tattoos usually require 3-5 treatments, all spaced approximately
one to three month apart. The number of treatments depends on the amount and type of
ink used and the depth of the ink in the skin.
What type of post-treatment care is necessary?
An antibacterial ointment and a dressing will be applied to the area. The treated
area should be kept clean with continued application of the ointment given to
you by our Centre. A shower can be taken the next day, although the treated
area should not be scrubbed.
What can I expect after tattoo removal?
Recovery times depend on the extent of the treatment and the individual’s
capacity to heal. Redness and sensitivity may continue for several weeks, and
there may be discoloration and a change in skin texture in the area, which will
gradually improve. You should avoid exposing the treated area to the sun, as this
may retard healing. You may not notice significant results until several treatments
have been completed.
After the Procedure the area may be swollen and red, and may feel like a sunburn. This is normal and will disappear slowly over time.
